Standby power specialists UPS Systems Plc announce a major new addition to their comprehensive UPS offering, following a recent agreement with S&C Electric, the Chicago based power switching and protection specialists. As UK Distributor of the S&C UPS products, UPS Systems can now offer the PureWave range of UPS.

PureWave has been designed to provide true cost efficient power protection for organisations with large scale power demands of 250kW or larger. Critical-process industries including Utilities, Engineering, Call Centres, Pharmaceutical Plants, Food Processing and Manufacturing are typical PureWave installations.

PureWave is an off-line device with a high-speed ¼ cycle response for large scale sensitive loads where power protection is critical. In these situations the use of conventional on-line UPS systems with their need for air conditioned environments and battery maintenance, can often result in a solution that is unnecessarily expensive.

PureWave’s fundamental difference is that it is a completely self contained, factory tested unit which can be installed outdoors or indoors, and is maintenance-free. The need for expensive, time consuming installation is therefore reduced and because it can be put outdoors, premium plant/floor space is not taken up, nor is a costly air conditioned environment required. Also by incorporating five year NO MAINTENANCE batteries that have been selected for their proven high power, short duty-cycle operation qualities, PureWave is the only UPS System to offer a 5 year warranty on the batteries.

The PureWave control system continuously monitors the status of each battery string. The units are 98% energy efficient (the highest in the industry) which greatly reduces the operating costs, and have a field proven design of 98%-99% effectiveness or 100% effectiveness with generator backup.
